Job description

The role and our team

We are looking to recruit an ecologist/environmental specialist with experience of UK environmental legislation and Habitats Regulations Assessments to join the Energy Infrastructure Planning Delivery team in BEIS.

You will use your ecology and environmental assessment skills and experience to advise on consenting decisions for nationally significant infrastructure projects.

You will advise Ministers and senior officials on the environmental impacts of offshore and onshore energy development applications and will provide specialist input into policy decisions affecting the future of the UK energy infrastructure planning regime.

This is a lively and fast paced post requiring professional expertise, strong influencing skills and an ability to deliver robust advice, whilst handling competing priorities.

An undergraduate life sciences degree is essential and ideally the candidate will hold an ecology/environmental postgraduate qualification and membership to a relevant professional body. We are looking to find someone with relevant experience of writing or responding to Habitats Regulations Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments.
