Position Summary:

Klohn Crippen Berger’s Mining Environmental Group has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Manager. The role is for someone who has experience leading project teams, managing projects, sustaining excellent client relationships and developing new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can lead teams and work both independently and as part of a team, has multi-disciplinary experience and outlook, and has previous consulting / practical project experience. One of the key responsibilities for the candidate will be to grow a mining environmental team from the Brisbane office. The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of motivated and hardworking professionals committed to delivering high quality engineering and environmental services. You will be part of an international team, within which initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to technical excellence are all important qualities. The successful candidate will be required to travel to remote locations across Australia, Asia and the Pacific, and possibly to North or South America. Ability to operate in remote locations often with limited communications and logistical support. Qualifications:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers Australia and/or Environmental Institute, Australia
  • Graduate degree or MSc in environmental engineering / or alternate core scientific training
  • Current Australian drivers license
  • 15 – 20 years experience preferably in mining operations or mining environmental consulting
  • Project Management experience for multi-discipline projects, and demonstrable experience with clients and regulatory liaison across a range of disciplines including environment, water and waste management
  • Experience in mining-related EIA / EIS / permitting and approvals projects
  • Ability to supervise and lead a small team environment
  • Sound knowledge of mining environmental requirements; applicable federal and state environmental legislation; environmental permitting; and, environmental plans development
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated track record as an effective team player is required
