The role of Environmental Manager is key to delivering our green objectives. As well as advising the business on Environmental, Energy, Carbon & Sustainability policy and strategy, you’ll ensure best practice is followed, represent us and raise our profile at appropriate external events, publish informative green articles to improve staff awareness, work with NGO’s and local authorities to improve our environmental footprint and much more. From liaising with supply chain and marketing colleagues regarding life cycle costs and advising on the implications of new equipment or new sites, through to benchmarking the company’s environmental performance, one thing is for sure - you will be instrumental in supporting, developing and driving the group’s long term environmental agenda, not only because it makes good business sense, but because it’s doing the right thing for our planet to conserve it for the future.
Coming from an environment management role within a large FTSE250 company or similar corporate organisation, you have a good knowledge of Environmental UK legislation and Environmental aspects & impacts risk assessment, corporate brand standards and regulation guidance. What’s more, you will have experience with Environment Management Systems , ISO1400 or EMAS as well as carbon management skills . A flair for project/operational management is also key, as is the ability to work to demanding deadlines and external stakeholders. Well-organised with the sort of communication skills that allow you to deal effectively with people at all levels, an understanding of FSTE250 operations and environmental reporting and accounting systems and ways of working would also be useful, as would membership of IMEA or equivalent.
