Our client, a leading mining house, currently has several opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join their Africa region, based at the head office in Johannesburg. They currently have a vacancy for an Environmental Manager: Monitoring and Compliance. Job Objectives:¨ Environmental Risk Assessment¨ Facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of environmental monitoring programmes¨ Provide guidance on laboratory analytical methods and standards used at mine sites.¨ Interpret environmental monitoring data and identify management options¨ Design of mine contaminant control strategies¨ Technical Input into EIS, EMPs and other mining contaminant- related projects. ¨ Assist operations with management of toxic and hazardous substances Qualifications and Experience:¨ A postgraduate degree in Geochemistry or Environmental Chemistry¨ A minimum of 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the mining industry¨ A sound understanding of analytical chemistry, movement and mobilization of geo-contaminants in soil / sediment and water systems, interaction between air, water, and rock that relate to mining activities, impact of contaminants on aquatic, animal and human life and combining geochemistry with hydrology, toxicology, plant ecology and air quality.
