OVERVIEW

The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP), a renowned leader for more than two decades in the global climate change policy arena, seeks applications and nominations for a Transportation & Climate Policy Analyst. The new Policy Analyst will join the team working on climate policy solutions through CCAP’s myriad policy programs.

For a decade, CCAP has been the thought leader on linking smart growth and climate change policy. Under the direction of Steve Winkelman, CCAP’s transportation program has helped state and local governments develop and implement climate change action plans, prepared a Transportation Emissions Guidebook to quantify savings opportunities, written policy papers framing linkages between smart growth, air quality and climate change, and facilitated stakeholder dialogues on transportation and climate change. Growing concerns about climate change and fuel prices have increased demand for CCAP’s work on smart growth, travel efficiency and climate change.

ABOUT THE TRANSPORTATION ANALYST

The Policy Analyst will apply research and analytical skills to the development of transportation and climate change policy. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of relevant experience and an ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to craft practical policy solutions. Knowledge of economics, smart growth, transportation policy, transportation data and the transportation and planning research literatures is required.

The Policy Analyst will play a key role in CCAP’s research and analysis on the economic costs and benefits of travel efficiency policies and the relationships between VMT and various economic indicators such as GDP. The Policy Analyst will also support CCAP’s assessment of the types of technical assistance, tools and data that state and local governments will need to meet the requirements of future transportation GHG reduction legislation and regulations. In addition the Policy analyst will support CCAP’s efforts on performance measurement and the integration of transportation, climate and air quality policies.  This position affords tremendous opportunity to participate in the development of cutting edge transportation and climate change policy work.


QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an articulate professional with sophistication, intelligence, and drive;
     
  • Hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Transportation Planning, Public Policy, or a related field;
     
  • Have at least five years of experience in economics, transportation and/or climate policy;
     
  • Have superb quantitative skills and research skills and the ability to understand and articulate sophisticated economic, policy and technical analyses;
     
  • Have demonstrated capacity to synthesize complex materials; and
     
  • Be able to analyze data and communicate concepts to myriad audiences.
     
  • A sense of humor, adaptability, humility and creativity.
