Job Classification:

Seasonal, Full-time, April 1 through August 31, 2011

Job Description:  Seasonal environmental educator has duties primarily in the education branch of the NJ Audubon mission and provides hands-on activities, games, crafts and nature exploration to the public as well as assisting the Sanctuary Director with other duties as required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conducting environmental education programs and interpretive walks for students, scouts, day camp participants, families, and adults.
  • Planning and conducting activities for special events, leading public programs and field trips.
  • Assisting in the care of our snakes
  • Writing press releases, contributing to the Center’s calendar of events, office tasks, routine maintenance.
  • Additional duties as required by the Interim Sanctuary Director.
  • May complete one special project during their term.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree or advanced degree students.
  • Willing to work in nature center setting
  • Flexibility to adjust hours to meet special needs of the Center.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing and be capable of light maintenance and leading two-plus hour hikes over rugged terrain. 
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is recommended

Starting date:  Immediate through August 31, 2011.

Compensation:  $10/per hour, paid semi-monthly.  Private room on the property is available.
