Volvo Powertrain is the Strategic Centre for powertrain issues in the Volvo Group. The scope covers complete powertrain systems, components such as engines, transmissions and driven axles, including development, manufacturing, sourcing, partnership, installation service and support in close co-operation with the customers. Volvo Powertrain has operations in Sweden, France, Spain, North and South America and Japan.

The Environmental Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental strategies, policies, and programs that promote sustainable development and ensure compliance with environmental legislation across the organization. As Senior Manager within Volvo Powertrain the primary focus will be on delivering results through the environmental network and plant managers. This position will be responsible for reviewing the whole operation, carrying out audits and assessments, identifying and resolving environmental problems, and acting as an agent of change. This role must ensure that the environmental staff is trained at all levels and that the workforce recognizes their own contributions to improved environmental performance.
 
Core Responsibilities

  • Participate as an environmental expert in Operations Management Meetings

  • Lead and develop environmental strategic goals and plan for the achievement of these goals

  • Coordinate, inform, and provide recommendations and advice to all plant managers and Operations Management Council about ongoing activities

  • Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of an organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical, and social responsibility.
Required Competencies

  • Advanced or expert knowledge regarding environmental legislation in Sweden

  • Experience in a global organization on environmental matters

  • Working experience of ISO 14001
