Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will, amongst other things, be responsible for:
• Providing expert environmental assessment and management input into a range of projects;
• Organising, planning and managing statutory and non-statutory environmental assessments;
• Undertaking Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA);
• Writing and reviewing technical reports and other outputs;
• Producing project proposals and quotations;
• Management of budgets and deadlines for projects;
• Managing and mentoring junior staff, working with colleagues throughout JBA, and liaising with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates will need a degree in a relevant discipline and a track record in environmental impact assessment, preferably gained from within an environmental consultancy. Associate membership of the IEMA and a full UK driving licence are also essential.
In addition, we are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge and experience:
• Detailed knowledge of environmental legislation within the EU, UK and Ireland;
• Experience of coordinating EIAs and writing and reviewing technical assessment chapters;
• Experience of SEAs would be an advantage;
• Excellent technical report writing skills;
• Knowledge and awareness of planning process and policy; and
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver the objectives of large and complex commissions;
• Given the nature of the role and work of JBA Consulting it would be of advantage if candidates have qualifications and experience in some of the following areas:
• A postgraduate degree in environmental assessment or related subject;
• Project management experience
• Business development experience in the private sector
• Specialist experience in a technical discipline e.g., ecology, hydrology, hydrogeology, T&C planning.
• Practical understanding of the Water Framework Directive (WFD);
• Experience of wider environmental and sustainability issues;
• Knowledge and understanding of ecosystem services;
• Renewable energy project experience;
• River restoration techniques; and
• GIS experience.

The post holder will be entitled to between 20 and 23 days holiday per year (depending on experience) rising to 25 after qualifying service, plus statutory holidays.
