Open To:                    EU Citizens or holders of UK work permits Job Overview:           An Environmental Consultancy specialising in the management of ocean engineering, health and safety and environmental issues facing industry, commerce and government, seeks an Environmental Consultant – Offshore Oil and Gas.  The candidate will join the Oil and Gas team, addressing the engineering and operational issues of a project with regards to environmental issues and impact. The team comprises a full technical service of scientists and engineers with services tailored to the full project life cycle of a project, from feasibility to site investigation and decommissioning. The service combines specialist environmental knowledge with legislation and politics of the planning regime, understanding how project development is affected by environmental risk. As the oil industry continues to increase production/exploration, there is a greater need from both a practical and legislative perspective, for environmental studies.    You will possess a good working knowledge and understanding of the oil and gas sector as a whole. Candidates should have environmental impact experience be looking to develop their client facing profile and additionally gain experience in marine renewables and offshore wind. The post will be based in Aberdeen and Dundee including the option for secondment to operators regarding PON delivery, with an initial period of training at the Company’s Offices in Hampshire.  The Company would also be interested in exploring opportunities with more experienced consultants.  Key responsibilities:  Reporting to the Environment Team Manager, this role encompasses many functions including:
·          Ability to actively contribute to and drive forward the requirements of legislation for Petroleum Operations Notices (PONs) whilst working with major oil and gas clients.
·        Contributing to the delivery of high quality, high value Offshore Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for our clients.·        Provide information to inform environmental permitting solutions to satisfy both regulators and key stakeholders·        Provide knowledge in impact assessments, management systems and/or risk management in capital projects with understanding of on-the-ground implementation of environmental protection measures.·       Working with colleagues to carry out technical hands-on aspects of offshore consultancy projects, from undertaking and delivery of EIAs to due diligence.·          Participate in ensuring projects meet client expectations, budget, and quality, and timescale requirements.·          Provide input to the production of compelling quotations.·          Be an ambassador for the Company, promoting awareness of services and raising reputation amongst client base. ·          Act as the interface with the client representative regarding all aspects of the project.·          Be the main point of contact with key clients, achieving a high level of satisfaction on all projects delivered.  ·          Adhere to company HSEQ systems and procedures, and acts as an example to colleagues.                                     In return for your skills and experience, the Company offers real opportunities to develop your professional competencies and your career.  The company will also support the obtaining of Chartership status and yearly professional subscriptions, to maintain and increase industry working knowledge  Capability Preferences:         The successful candidate will have:·      BSc degree in Environmental Sciences essential ·      A good working knowledge and understanding of the oil and gas sector as a whole would be essential. ·      Specific UK oil and gas legislative experience is essential·      At least two years’ environmental consultancy experience in the oil and gas sector essential·      Ability to actively contribute to and drive forward the requirements of legislative requirements for Petroleum Operations Notices (PONs) whilst working with a major oil and gas client essential·      MSc or other postgraduate qualification would be highly desirable·      Experience in contributing to offshore EIA and SEA activities and on-the-ground implementation of environmental protection measures desirable·      Knowledge of Environmental issues in the oil and gas sector highly advantageous·      Effective communication skills and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be essential to meet clients expectations, must be customer and service focussed·      Exposure to, or use of, GIS systems desirable·      Strong report and proposal writing capabilities ·      High degree of computer literacy and numeracy ·       Previous experience in consultative environment advantageous

·      General flare and keen interest in the environmental challenges facing the oil industry.

·      Ability to work to tight and multiple deadlines.·      Self-management and motivation, initiative and responsibility are considered key attributes, as is the ability to communicate effectively.  

·      Flexible, must be able to travel occasionally to project sites

·      Clean, current driving licence for travel to project sites.
