KMH Environmental (KMH) are currently looking for an experienced Environmental Consultant with a significant planning and approvals, and auditing background. It is an exciting time to be part of the KMH team – you will take a lead role as an Environment Manager in a secondment position (3 days p/w) and will provide high level project support for the remainder of the working week at the KMH Office.
The successful applicant’s responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and implementing the Client’s Environment Strategy (ES) and distributing copies of the ES to all stakeholders;
- Reviewing, amending and improving the Client’s EMS;
- Maintaining environment records including the Environmental Sites Register;
- Preparing and providing advice on a range of environmental matters for stakeholders;
- Conducting and/or reviewing environmental audits all operations;
- Identifying and organising training and/or awareness programs;
- Reviewing Construction EMPs and monitoring their implementation;
- Monitoring air, water and soil quality, noise and heritage matters as well as flora and fauna;
- Commissioning environmental studies and responding to study findings and recommendations;
- Responding to environmental emergencies;
- Preparing Annual Environment Report to the Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development.
- Ensuring that all EIAs conform with legislative requirements and commercial objectives for infrastructure projects including environmental licences and statutory obligations;
- Acting as a KMH representative, develop and maintain client relationships; and
- Actively participate in supporting KMH’s Infrastructure, Planning and Assessment Team;
We are seeking an experience and enthusiastic consultant with the following general requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science/management;
- Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in environmental management, planning, impact assessment and auditing;
- Experience in developing, reviewing and implementing EIAs in NSW;
- Must have extensive knowledge of environmental laws in NSW and environmental issues;
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate to multiple stakeholders with enthusiasm and drive;
- Demonstrated project management skills;
- Ability to multitask, work autonomously, and manage own time and deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail and possess critical review and analysis skills; and
- Be able to travel to work at the client’s office in Southwest Sydney for a minimum of three days per week.
Ideal Requirements:
- Experience in reviewing development applications.
- Experience in environmental auditing of industrial facilities.
- Experience in reviewing environmental management plans.
- Experience with contaminated land assessment/remediation.
- Experience in environmental impact assessment in NSW.
- Experience as an environmental officer on NSW construction sites.
- Experience with Landcare and bush regeneration projects.
