Description

The Communities Group International (TCGI) plans sustainable communities and helps mobilize financing for project implementation.  Based in the Washington DC area, TCGI works with bilateral, multilateral, and national and local governments and agencies worldwide. TCGI seeks environmental and climate change expert candidates to add to our consultant roster for anticipated long-term and short-term project work in Africa and Southeast Asia.   The anticipated projects will deal with strategies and metrics for adapting to climate change, mitigating its effects, and pursing low carbon development models.  In particular, TCGI is seeking CVs for two roles for a climate change monitoring and evaluation project in East Africa.  Regional experience is a plus.

 

Environmental Economist

  • An advanced degree in economics, statistics, climate modeling
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience on environmental and climate change, with focus on data driven modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Ability to evaluate investment decisions, particularly whether public investments provide highest social and economic return
  • Strong experience in the field working with diverse agencies and governments in Africa or Southeast Asia

 

Environmental Planner

  • An advanced degree in environmental planning, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working on projects that deal with the impact of climate change on ecological and social systems, including agriculture, water security, and health
  • Planning experience related to better resource management as a way of making the environment more resilient to climate change and mitigating environmental stress factors
  • Development of indicators for evaluating environmental stress
  • Strong experience in the field working with diverse agencies and governments in Africa or Southeast Asia
