Position:       
 

    * Responsible for planning and implementation of strategic environmental programs and initiatives for a Business Unit within the North America Business Unit to conform with Company policies and goals.

 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
·         Directly and indirectly responsible for identifying and assessing the environmental aspects of the Company's operations, products, and services for production facilities, re-manufacturing and sales and distribution facilities.
 
·         Determine and prioritize the environmental impacts of the Company's operations, products and services, based on the extent and probability of impact, potential regulatory or legal exposure, health risk, public relations and/or customer concerns, and costs.
 
·         Review and interpret regulations affecting environmental aspects and impacts to the Company. Translate regulatory and Company policy requirements into programs, tools and resources for implementation by facility management.
 
·         Accountability for communicating environmental information through Company sponsored training, regulatory alerts, meetings, calendars and environmental bulletins. Assist with external communication on regulatory matters through agency required reporting, permitting and response letters.
 
·         Assure environmental accountability through implementation of  environmental sustainability, quality and efficiency relative to Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).  Identify local and systemic opportunities for corrective action required by regulation and Company policy and procedures.
 
·         Manage, at any one time, environmental projects in excess of $2 million.   Project types include underground storage tank (UST) removal, contamination assessment and remediation; asbestos and lead survey and abatement; stormwater pollution prevention; hazardous materials management and supplemental environmental projects as necessary. Responsible for development of project scope, bid solicitation, contract administration, funding authorization preparation and accounting.
 
 
·         Interface with appropriate Company representatives related to Superfund liability, environmental citations and claims, requests from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and special projects.  Tasks include research, strategy, negotiation and settlement of claims.
 
 
·         Review capital projects for environmental impact and assure that environmental requirements are addressed during the project planning process through interaction with the appropriate members of the Supply Chain and local management.  Provide technical and management assistance for the environmental-related tasks required for project implementation.
 
·         Work closely with Supply Chain Technical Services, Procurement, Safety, Risk Management and other departments to identify cost saving opportunities through waste minimization, pollution prevention, energy efficiency and water conservation.
 
·         Review procurement contracts for vendor services with significant environmental impact (i.e. mobile fueling, emergency response, used oil, universal waste and hazardous waste disposal). Conduct audits to evaluate vendor operations for compliance with Company policy, regulatory requirements and industry best practices
 
·         Conduct due diligence assessments for Company property transactions to quantify associated environmental risks that potentially impact the transaction.  Directly and indirectly responsible for addressing required environmental actions identified during the transaction process.
 
·         Supervision of Environmental Affairs Analyst and other temporary personnel.
 
·         Serve as Business Unit contact for Company's Immediate Action Team (IAT) program for environmental accidental releases.  Provide regulatory and issue mitigation guidance to minimize environmental risk and achieve proper incident management resolution.
