Scottish and Southern Energy is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK. We own the electricity transmission network and own and operate the distribution network across the North of Scotland, and are responsible for maintaining, repairing and upgrading these networks. As part of Scottish and Southern Energy, the Major Projects division is a focused delivery group that are delivering a wide range of construction projects within the UK.  We currently have exciting opportunities for Environmental Advisors to be part of a team working on a number of major transmission projects in Scotland. As an Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible, for assisting the Environmental Project Managers and Environment Manager in successful advice, assessment and completion of environmental requirements on projects.  Other duties will include: 

 

  • Liaising with internal colleagues and external consultants to provide best value and quality survey information
  • Developing good working relationships with all statutory bodies
  • Promoting best practice advice during whole life cycle of a project, ie feasibility, optioneering, construction and commissioning
  • Providing accurate information on environmental issues of projects
  • Assisting Clerk of Works on site during construction
The successful candidate will have 
  • An environmental related degree, preferably with a post graduate qualification
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to build productive relationships with individuals and organisations
  • The ability to work as a team player
  • Excellent organisational skills and a flexible attitude to work as you will need to meet demanding deadlines

The role involves travel, including occasional overnight stays.  A full driving licence is essential.

 

Successful candidates will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process which includes a basic criminal record check.
