Description

SSE Renewables is responsible for the development and construction of the SSE portfolio of renewable energy projects, including onshore and offshore wind, hydro, marine, biomass, and solar. SSE is the leading generator of renewable energy in the UK and Ireland, with 3,750MW of renewable energy capacity (onshore wind, offshore wind, hydro and dedicated biomass) in operation, under construction or with consent in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

You will provide specialist input for SSE offshore projects through the consenting process and construction. You will focus on key topics such as natural fish and marine mammals with the focus on gaining consent.

Liaising with statutory consultees (such as Marine Scotland and the fishing industry) and work directly with them to resolve particular environmental issues where they arise will be a key part of the role. Managing and advising on allocated topics of the Environmental Impact Assessment through the consenting process, the release of planning conditions, and developing monitoring plans are also important aspects of the role. Ultimately, you will support the delivery of high quality, safe, fully leased and consented offshore wind farms in UK waters.

You'll have a background in marine ecology, environmental sciences or similar and an understanding of the EIA process, environmental requirements throughout project development, and accompanying legislation. Your report and document writing skills are excellent as is your ability to communicate with key internal and external stakeholders.

A degree in environmental sciences, marine science, ecology or related discipline with post graduate study would be advantageous.
