Scottish and Southern Energy is one of the largest and most diverse energy companies in the UK. We own the electricity transmission network and own and operate the distribution network across the North of Scotland, and are responsible for maintaining, repairing and upgrading these networks. As part of Scottish and Southern Energy, the Major Projects division is a focused delivery group that are delivering a wide range of construction projects within the UK. 

You will work as part of a team supporting a number of major transmission projects in Scotland. As the Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Environmental Manager in the assessment, implementation and completion of environmental requirements on projects.  

Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Liaising with internal colleagues and external consultants to provide best value, good practice and quality survey information from which appropriate assessment and mitigation can be formulated
  • Developing good working relationships with statutory consultees and regulatory bodies
  • Promoting best practice advice during the whole life cycle of a project
  • Providing accurate, informed and appropriate information on environmental issues
  • Assisting the specialist consultant Clerk of Works on site during the construction of projects
The successful candidate will:
  • Possess a HND or higher in a relevant qualification
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with individuals and organisations
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Have the ability to work as a team player and take the initiative when required
