POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the implementation and oversight of the plant's environmental and safety programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: *Develop and implementation the plant's environmental & safety strategy, programs, and policies to eliminate work-related injuries & illnesses, to protect the environment and natural resources and to ensure compliance to regulatory and Nestlé requirements. * Manage the plant's Environmental & Safety management programs, Maintain ISO 14001 & OSHAS 18001 certification. *Monitor and communicate environmental & safety performance to determine continual improvement needs. Use behavioral based safety principles to strengthen organizational culture. *Integrate environmental & safety elements into business decisions * Coordinate and participate in safety and environmental incident investigations and root cause analysis identification. * Administer Environmental & Safety training programs. * Act as technical resource for facility. Actively participates on corporate/divisional environmental and safety teams. REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor's degree, past experience in manufacturing industry with responsibility for Environmental & Safety.
EXPERIENCE: * 3-5 years experience in coordinating safety/risk management/environmental/occupational health activities and compliance in a manufacturing setting. * Experience with Environmental & Safety programs including: hazardous and non-hazardous waste, wastewater, air permitting, chemical management, energy and resource management, energy isolation, confined space entry, hazard communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and forklift safety. * Experience with EPA and OSHA regulations and application in operations.
SKILLS: * Decision making; must be capable of making well-informed decisions in both routine and non-routine situations. * Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with audiences that have a broad range of background and understanding. * Training and presentation skills. * Must be able to conduct incident investigations and identify root causes. * Able to work and lead in team environment * Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Illinois Worker's Compensation Law * Technical writing skills (policies, procedures, reference manuals) * Computer skills (Microsoft/Windows based)
