Environment Team Manager

Triodos's UK Business Banking team is growing fast, more than doubling the size of its lending activities in the UK and Ireland in the last three years.  Renewable energy is a sector where Triodos has established expertise and profile and continues to be a major growth area of our lending activities. 

Our UK Environment Team is a leading provider of project finance to sub 20MW renewable energy projects in both the UK and Ireland.  We are also an active player in other sectors and have ambitions to expand our non-energy related lending in sectors such as composting and energy efficiency. Your leadership will provide growth of our lending and services in all Environment sectors, diversifying our loan portfolio, exploring opportunities to grow the business through initiatives such as securitisation and syndication whilst also extending the Bank's mission impact.  

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project finance/commercial lending professional with management experience to lead one of the UK's most experienced renewable energy teams.  You will work directly on a fast growing pipeline of energy deals as well as have broader responsibility for the management of the team and development of future strategy.  You may also work on deals in other Environment sector markets.  The role also provides an opportunity to work closely with colleagues in Triodos Investment Management both in the UK and internationally.

You will be accountable for:

• Growing our lending, deposits and services in all environment sectors
• Leading a team of highly experienced individuals
• Diversifying our loan portfolio
• Exploring opportunities to grow the business through initiatives such as securitisation and syndication
• Generating new lending enquiries and presenting credit assessments to our credit committee, delivering against lending sales objectives.
• Actively contributing to the development of new business for our lending and banking services utilising all resources available within an agreed budget.
• Managing the operation of existing customers' loans, deposit accounts, and current accounts, where it supports a lending opportunity, or a targeted key relationship in your sector.

We are looking for someone that has:

• At least five years of experience in commercial lending or project finance
• Excellent leadership and people management skills
• Advanced lending analysis and experience of project finance, including financial assessment skills including dealing with complex business structures, projections and cash-flows and preparation of complex credit proposals
• A successful track record in developing strategy in the context of multiple business constraints
• Experience of managing complex due diligence and legal documentation
• An ability to manage our most complex and high exposure borrowers
• Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to deal with customers from a wide variety of backgrounds and to develop and manage a client portfolio
• An understanding of product and service profiles and an ability present these to customers, with a detailed understanding of the marketplace and competition
• A proven track record of delivery of presentations and media interviews
• A strong interest in environmental issues and clear demonstration of commitment to Triodos values
