Introduction

Our client, a major Automotive OEM based in Oxford is seeking an Environment Specialist to provide technical and operational expertise within the Environmental Management Department in the UK and Ireland.

The Job

Key Accountabilities:
- Delivery of specified environmental programs and targets.
- Completion of departmental requirements in operational activity.
- Interpretation legal requirements in relation to technology activities (Mandatory, optional, best practice).
- Identifies solutions to environmental impacts within the technology and shares best practice.
- Identifies and follows best route for incident investigation to avoid re-occurrence of incident and also protect the company from 3rd party action.
- Within environmental role, identifies and interprets other business risks (safety / fire) and deals with appropriately (Advice, action, escalation)
- Develop and adhere to functional process, budget constraint and target achievement Process responsibility to the Technology Directors for environmental advise.
- Decides on legal and internal reporting requirements following an incident.
- Responsible for developing / transferring best practice in one specific technical environmental field (emissions, waste, water, EMS)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management
- 2 years + experience in discipline
- Experience in negotiations with regulating Authorities in a relevant area of legislation.
- Knowledge of departmental function, processes and guidelines
- Detailed knowledge of related environmental legal requirements
- Detailed knowledge of ISO 14001 standard and experience in its certification
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of UK Health and Safety requirements would be beneficial
