You’ll ideally have exposure to a regulatory, enforcement or customer-focused role. Perhaps you've inspected sites, handled complaints or been in a role where you’ve had difficult conversations with customers. Whatever your background, you'll be interested in the environment and be willing to enforce environmental regulations, even if this means sometimes dealing with confrontational situations.

We are seeking an Environment Officer in our Land & Water team based in our Norwich office.

As an Environment Officer you'll be an environmental champion. Your work will be vital to the protection of the environment and will be extremely varied and challenging. You'll work as part of a team using a range of tools from advice and guidance through to enforcement to achieve the best environmental outcomes.

For the Environment Officer A role you'll be provided with a programme of training.

Dependant on relevant experience EOB grade maybe offered.
The Land & Water teams work with, and regulate a variety of environmental stakeholders including the agricultural, water resources, and wastewater treatment sectors. You will focus on improving and preventing deterioration to land and our rivers, lakes, groundwater aquifers, and coastal waters and improving soil quality and management.

Incident response is a cornerstone of our organisation requiring you to investigate, advise and communicate with a wide range of customers.
Whilst relevant work experience would be an advantage, it’s less important to us than your ability to demonstrate the key skills we’re seeking. You'll be an enthusiastic self-motivated individual who enjoys working in the outdoors, across teams and with a variety of customers.

• The skills to prioritise and organise tasks to deliver work to a high standard and to achieve planned outcomes
• Excellent communication skills and experienced in dealing with difficult people and situations
• The ability to work as part of a team to achieve the desired outcomes.
• The confidence to work unsupervised, take the lead your work area(s), make decisions and find solutions to problems
• A proven track record in ensuring that activities are carried out and documentation completed in line with systems, polices and legislation.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

We will provide you with all the training you’ll need.
Closing Date: 27th May 2019 at 23:55. The Environment Officer role is a career grade position with starting salary of £20,558 which will increase as you move through the training.
