The Society for the Environment is an independent, not for profit organisation incorporated by Royal Charter and responsible for awarding the title Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) to professional individuals through its 24 licensed member bodies. The Society’s key objective is to promote the advancement of, the dissemination of, knowledge of and education in good environmental practice for the public benefit. Purpose of the Communications Role To raise the profile of the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) qualification and increase the number of registrants through effective communication of the CEnv qualification and the Society’s aims and objectives to Professional Bodies, targeted external organisations, the Government and the wider public. Output 1 To develop a communications & marketing strategy for approval by the External Affairs Committee and to implement the agreed strategy. Output 2 Produce copy for internal and external communications, publications and marketing material as required by the strategy and the CEO Output 3 Research, write and ensure the publication and circulation of the Society’s quarterly newsletter including designing html/PDF versions Output 4 Upgrade and redesign of the SocEnv website, providing regularly updated new content for the website, improvement of its social networking functionality and the development and launch of an online ‘Directory of Chartered Environmentalists’. Key Task 1 Assisting the CEO and External Affairs Committee with the development and implementation of a programme of internal and external communications. Key Task 2 Assisting with the planning and implementation of marketing strategies and promotional policies – proactively researching and producing copy for internal and external publications including press releases, articles and news items with the efficient logging of all media coverage and updating of press directory. This will include assisting in designing and monitoring recruitment campaigns for new Chartered Environmentalists in collaboration with Licensed Members. Key Task 3 Coordinating communications to Chartered Environmentalists (CEnvs) and Licensed Members (the newsletter) Key Task 4 Working effectively with the public relations arms of Government departments, educational and professional institutions Key Task 5 Conducting and writing up interviews and reporting on environmental sector & industry events.
