Maplecroft is looking to recruit an environment and climate change analyst to help meet growing client demand. We are very keen to hear from individuals with experience and knowledge of the practical implementation of climate change adaptation and/or disaster risk reduction strategies, but welcome applications from exceptional candidates with backgrounds in other relevant areas. The role is based in our environment and climate change team but would involve working in close conjunction with Maplecroft’s multidisciplinary teams of human rights experts, political risk analysts, and regional specialists.

Assignments may include:

  • Research and analysis of global, regional and country-specific environmental and climate change risks
  • Assessment of climate change vulnerability at multiple spatial scales of resolution and for different corporate, public and civil sector audiences
  • Assessment of natural hazard risks facing humanitarian organisations, sectors, companies, commodities, supply chains, countries and communities utilising Maplecroft’s proprietary natural hazard risk indices and third party data sources
  • Contribution to updating, refining and analysing indices within Maplecroft’s Climate Change and Environmental Risk Atlas and Natural Hazard Risk Atlas

Essential requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of and passion for relevant environmental and/or climate change issues
  • At least two years of experience in relevant field
  • Excellent qualitative research skills
  • Highly literate
  • University degree
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment of robust peer review and continuous improvement

Desirable attributes

  • Experience of policy formulation, implementation or analysis in environment, climate change or disaster risk management
  • Experience working with clients from Maplecroft’s key sectors
  • Understanding of climate change science
  • Quantitative research and data analysis skills
  • Masters or PhD
