Description
Chemonics seeks technical experts for an anticipated five-year USAID environment and biodiversity project in Madagascar. The project will initially focus on the Eastern rainforest corridor as well as the southwest region, with potential expansion to other specific ecosystems. It will support community-based natural resource management, protected area management, and improved enforcement of laws around timber and wildlife trafficking. The project aims to empower civil society organizations to advocate for improved environmental governance, and provide opportunities for alternative and sustainable livelihoods to reduce the demand f?or agricultural land and unsustainable fishing practices. We are looking for individuals how have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field 
  • Minimum seven years of progressively increasing responsibility implementing donor-funded environment and biodiversity projects of similar size and complexity
  • Experience working on USAID projects, familiarity with USAID rules and regulations, and experience with procurement and financial management preferred
  • Technical knowledge and experience in natural resource management, biodiversity, conservation, wildlife management, and/or forestry required
  • Experience in coordinating with and building the capacity of local government and civil society counterparts  
  • Experience in challenging environments strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with high-level host-country beneficiaries, and excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Experience in Madagascar strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity 
  • Fluent French and English (written and spoken) required?
