Description

Winrock is seeking Environment and Biodiversity Experts for an upcoming USAID-funded program in Honduras.  The Honduras Environment and Biodiversity Project will be a key component of USAID’s natural resource management and biodiversity portfolio in Honduras. Winrock seeks candidates with excellent qualifications to work with project team and partners to implement an integrated program that supports improved environmental governance, payment for ecosystem services, reduced deforestation, improved livelihoods and biodiversity conservation.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant advanced degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum five years of experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines listed above.
  • USAID experience is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required, proficiency in English preferred.
  • Experience working in Honduras is required
  • Technical knowledge and experience in natural resource management, biodiversity, conservation, wildlife management, and/or forestry required
  • Experience in challenging environments working with diverse partners strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with high-level host-country counterparts and excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance on sustainable livelihoods, land use planning, forestry, natural resource management, ecosystem services, hydrology, biodiversity and/or climate change
  • Provide technical direction for the program in accordance with the approved annual work plans.
  • Maintain strong relationships with home office and USAID, partners and collaborators, and any other associated stakeholder.
