Business in the Community is the oldest and largest business-led membership organisation

dedicated to responsible business. We were created nearly 40 years ago by HRH The Prince of Wales to champion responsible business.  We inspire, engage and challenge members and we mobilise that collective strength as a force for good in society to:

  • Create a skilled, inclusive workforce today and for the future
  • Build thriving communities in which to live and work
  • Innovate to repair and sustain our planet

Today, we have a vibrant membership of hundreds of businesses, large and small, connected by the conviction that their success is inextricably linked to society’s prosperity.

The BITC Advisory Services team sits within our Strategy & Advisory Directorate. We work with members to design and deliver responsible business advisory support that is right for their needs. This can be through short-term, targeted interventions; training; or longer-term strategic change programmes.

Through environment advisory support we work with a range of member businesses across their climate change and circular economy programmes – internally, within their communities and across their value chain. We create a support plan tailored to each member at the depth and timescale they require. Our support ranges from workshops and training to engage senior leaders and staff, through to long-term strategic projects and partnerships. We work with colleagues across BITC to develop impactful products and projects based on the learning and leading practice from our Environment Campaign. We also work alongside Relationship Managers to ensure member companies are progressing along their responsible business journey.

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Environment Adviser with an depth knowledge of a broad range of environmental issues including climate change, GHG emissions and circular economy.

The successful candidate will have not only an excellent knowledge of environmental issues but an understanding of the needs of private and public sector organisations to be able to advise our members on the risks and opportunities facing them in this area.

It is essential to have track record of account management, consultancy and/or advisory services as well as demonstrable experience of working in an area focused on repairing and sustaining our planet.

This role offers you a great opportunity to work collaboratively with fantastic colleagues and make a real difference.
