Our client is a specialist independent and fully accredited laboratory focused on providing a comprehensive analytical testing service to the ‘land-based’ industries throughout the UK.
With over 20 years experience providing laboratory testing services to all parts of the Waste and Renewables Sector it is recognised as the leading analytical facility in the Organic Waste Sector.
There is an increasing commercial awareness within UK Companies regarding the requirements and benefits in managing all types of ‘Waste materials’, in a responsible and environmentally friendly way.  Key to this is a drive to identify ‘waste streams’ that can be diverted from Landfill and re-used in Agriculture and Horticulture either under exemptions or by the production of a commercial product. The company is already targeting Anaerobic Digestion for example.
As a result of this market expansion and growing workloads the client is seeking an Environment and Renewables Manager to develop and manage a new Environmental Section within its business operation.
The specific experience required for this role would include:
• A fundamental understanding and experience of the waste sector; industry trends, processes, customer expectations and a knowledge of legislation.
• The ability to adapt and generate methods for the evaluation of renewables, either as an analytical expert in the contaminated land or environmental sectors.
• A proven tack record of the management of teams of technically qualified staff.
Key aspects of the role would include:
• The development of an ‘Environment Group’ to service the analytical requirements of all areas of the UK Waste, Contaminated Land and Renewables Sector.
• Continuous improvement of the development of the methods and processes within the Contaminated Land Sector and the extension of these processes to include Renewables.
• Operating as the key contact on renewable materials, advising customers and influencing new test methodologies with industry stakeholders, from a technical, developmental and commercial perspective.
• Acting as the primary technical contact in the area of Waste / Renewables.
• Keeping abreast of this rapidly growing sector and the corresponding evolving techniques to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry.
The role is positioned in an attractive part of Berkshire although it is possible that applications might be considered for the Yorkshire office. Remuneration (including Pension and Private Healthcare) would be commensurate with the appointment to a senior position within the business.
