We have an opportunity in our Sustainability and Climate Change practitioner for an engineer with an interest in greenhouse gas reporting and experience in air emissions and water monitoring and reporting in the energy sector.
 
Deloitte offers a business-focused approach to managing the risks and opportunities associated with Sustainability & Climate Change (S&CC).  We frame these issues in a strategic context that helps businesses create and implement programs that deliver both shareholder and stakeholder value.  We regularly advise our clients on the topics of corporate responsibility, climate change and carbon markets.  We consult on risk management and emissions management information systems selection and implementation as they relate to environmental data. We also provide assurance on environmental and social performance indicators that companies publish in Corporate Responsibility Reports and regulated greenhouse gas reports.  
 
Our practitioners come from various backgrounds including engineering, science, economics, accounting and regulatory policy and are able to collaborate with assurance, IT, risk and management consulting practitioners to offer innovative, multi-disciplinary services. This opportunity will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to expand their technical skills into broader strategy and risk management consulting .
                                                                                                                                                    
Examples of our Sustainability and Climate Change services include:
  • Establish GHG inventories and provide third party assurance on emission reports
  • Develop carbon compliance strategies
  • Conduct climate change risk assessments and develop climate change adaptation strategies
  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies, performance measures, and reporting activities related to corporate responsibility
  • Provide clients with an independent third party verification of sustainability report data including environmental and social indicators
  • Conclude on environmental liabilities as part of financial audit services
As a Consultant/Senior Consultant you will:
  • Conduct client engagements in all areas of services offered by our Sustainability & Climate Change practice
  • Execute client delivery and business development research
  • Foster client relationships and play a key role in delivering services to clients
  • Contribute to the development of specific service line offerings
  • Participate in and initiate internal and external business development and thought leadership initiatives
  • Pursue a personal growth plan to stay abreast of professional and industry developments
 
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or related science, (BSc, BEng)
  • 1-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of environmental management issues, experience with environmental reporting in the energy sector
  • Experience with carbon management and environmental regulations is an asset
  • Effective business writing and presentation skills
  • Bright, critical and strategic thinker and able to solve complex business issues
  • Well organized with the ability to operate with minimal supervision and considerable autonomy
  • Willing and able to travel (~ 15-30%) in Canada, the United States and on selected occasion overseas
