SONATI is looking for an English teaching volunteer for the children of Santa Rosa de Los Parrales community, at Nicaragua. The community's children are involved in nature conservation project in the nearby Los Madroños Nature Reserve. The children at the community are very motivated to advance and learn, though they miss opportunities. The children's work at the reserve and their motivation in helping and protecting nature is impressive. Good English level would help these children to have better future success and will help them to guide tourists at Los Madroños Reserve. Volunteer qualifications:
The English classes: English classes will be given for the primary school children, 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. Optional: open another group for high school children, depend upon demand. Accommodation at the community: volunteers can sleep and eat at the farm of Sandoval family, the founders of the reserve. The Sandovals are an extremely friendly family; volunteers will have the opportunity to experience the best of the rural Nicaraguan life style. Please take in account that the economic situation of the Sandoval family, as well as the rest of the families at the community, is quite basic, so conditions are basic as well. Costs: Volunteers will be ask to pay for the food and electricity costs: US$7 per day (seven US dollars per day), this include 3 meals a day and a room with light and fan. Time commitment: At list one month commitment is required, but the longer is the better.
