The Great Lakes/Atlantic Regional Office of Ducks Unlimited, Inc. has an opening for an Engineering Intern located in Ann Arbor, MI.  The incumbent will become part of a team of biologists, engineers, public policy experts, scientific researchers and other professionals responsible for the protection, restoration and enhancement of wetlands and native grasslands in the Great Lakes/Atlantic region. 

 

Qualifications

 

 

 

Candidates must have at a minimum, an Associates of Science degree in an engineering field.  A waterfowl biology and wetland ecology emphasis is highly desirable.  Relevant field experience in wetland restoration or civil engineering is preferred.  Applicants must have a basic knowledge of standard survey techniques, AutoCAD drafting, and construction management.  Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as inter-personal skills, are required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team dedicated toward accomplishing DU’s mission in the Great Lakes States.  Responsibilities will include assisting the engineering staff with surveys, drafting, and construction management, on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects.  The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the completion of surveys, drafting of engineering plans and construction monitoring duties.  This position may require extensive travel.
