Engineering Consultant - Graduate

The position is available to candidates wishing to enter the renewable energy sector with and electrical bias. The work will involve all aspects of renewable energy generation including electrical design of projects, grid connection, and grid integration. There is considerable scope for the appointed candidate to develop their skills, experience, and establish their own specialisms within the company. The job is based in Glasgow, offers flexible and relaxed working condidtions, and may require some travelling from time to time. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

 

  • Good command of spoken English with clear and well written text
  • Ability to undertake power systems calculations and computer simulations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and power system simulation software
  • An appreciation of transmission & distribution systems and electricity generation
  • An appreciation of the political and regulatory environment for renewable energy
  • An ability to think and act for themselves
  • Good communication skills
The candidate will be expected to undertake calculations, perform information searches, prepare analysis, briefing documents and reports, develop company capabilities and take on client interfacing as skills and develop. Experience with grid connection of generators, offshore projects and commercial/regulatory issues would be an advantage. 
 
The candidate will ideally hold the following:
  • Electrical engineering first degree
  • Relevant post graduate degree
  • Relevant work experience
  • Demonstrable experience with and commitment to renewable energy
  • Membership of professional body
The position is available with five weeks annual leave plus eight public holidays. Salary is negotiable. Training will be undertaken through a training plan but will be largely hands-on.
