For our Corporate Technology in Erlangen we are looking for an Engineer (m/f) - Power Converter Technology for Renewable Energy at the earliest opportunity.

The aim of the role is to work as part of a team to develop power converters in the power range of > 100 kVA for connecting renewable energy such as photovoltaic to the grid.

What are my responsibilities?

  • ·         Development of new power converter concepts in the range of >100 kVA
  • ·         Evaluation of the efficiency, cost and reliability of different concepts
  • ·         Simulation of power converters with Matlab/Simulink
  • ·         Build and test of prototypes
  • ·         Creation and programming of hardware-related control logic on FPGA/DSP
  • ·         Construction and commissioning of power converters
  • ·         Documentation of results
  • ·         Knowledge of power electronic systems in the range of several kW
  • ·         Basic knowledge of power systems and grid
  • ·         Simulation (Matlab/Simulink, Modelica)
  • ·         Project management
  • ·         Preparation, definition and implementation of R&D projects
  • ·         Involvement in publicly-funded projects and national/international initiatives

What do I need to qualify for this job?

 

  • ·         University degree in electrical engineering (specializing in power electronics) with a core course duration of at least 4 years
  • ·         Knowledge of and experience in electrical engineering, preferably power electronics
  • ·         Knowledge of the following areas:

o        Power electronics, particularly in converter for photovoltaic systems

o        General electronics engineering (supply and storage of energy)

o        Simulation tools (Matlab/Simulink; SPICE, Simplorer)

o        Project organization and management

  • ·         Ideally knowledge of operation and functioning of low and medium voltage grids
  • ·         Good business knowledge of spoken and written German and English
  • ·         Initiative, ability to learn, analytical skills, result-focused, ability to work independently, ability to network, coaching and mentoring, motivation and enthusiasm
