Engineer / Construction Manager

Location:  Position is for a home office located inAmes,Iowa, although consideration will be given to other locations inIowa. 

The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team dedicated toward accomplishing DU’s mission inIowaand potentially surrounding states.  Responsibilities will include coordinating DU’s delivery of the NRCS WRP in northern and westernIowaas well as assisting the Regional Engineer with surveys, design, drafting, and construction management, on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects.  The successful applicant will be responsible for communicating with NRCS staff, landowners and conservation partners; coordination of contractors on WRP projects; completion of surveys; drafting of engineering plans; and close monitoring of projects under construction.  A close working relationship with local, state and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners will be an important aspect of the job.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Coordinate DU’s delivery of WRP inIowa
• Project inspection and checkout and invoice coordination with Regional staff
• Draft construction plans on civil-type projects
• Generate topographic maps using Land Desktop software
• Perform quantity calculations for civil-type projects
• Assist surveyors in topographic survey and construction staking
• Project construction inspection
• Design wetland restoration projects commensurate with experience

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution
• A minimum of five years experience or a combination of 5 years experience and education in civil engineering, construction management
• Excellent communication skills required
• Proficient in using AutoCAD for the drafting of civil projects
• AutodeskLandDesktop & experience desirable
• Total Station / GPS Survey experience and construction experience desirable
