Description

Applications are invited to engage 02 Research Associates (one each for terrestrial and aquatic including marine ecosystems) for the Wildlife Division of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India, on contractual basis initially for a period of six months. The place of work will be Wildlife Division, Paryavaran Bhawan, CGO Complex, New Delhi.  Short listed candidates will be called for interview, likely to be held during the third week of May 2011 at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun (WII) or at New Delhi. Director, WII reserves the right to reject any application in view of incomplete information or any other reason.

Duration: Six Months.

Essential Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Ph.D. Degree in Zoology/Botany/Environmental Science/Forestry/Wildlife Science/Biological Sciences/Life Sciences/Marine Biology from a recognised University.

Desirable Qualification

Candidates with published research work to their credit and having undertaken independent research work will be given preference.

Project Description

The study aims to analyze management plans for selection of target Protected Areas (PAs) in the country.

Job  Description

The RAs will assist the Wildlife Division of the Ministry of Environment and Forests in analysing management plans of PAs, setting the priorities, and preparing a roadmap for providing financial support to identified PAs and establishing a PA specific monitoring protocol.

GENERAL

 

  1. The tenure of the selected candidate (Research Associate-I) will be initially for a period of six months, which can be extended further on the basis of requirement of the project.

  2. Candidate for the position of Research Associate (RA-I) should be below 40 years of age as on 5th May 2011. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST.

  3. Selected candidate will be paid a fellowship of Rs.22,000/- per month and other benefits such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Medical and Leave as per DST norms prescribed in Government of India, Department of Science & Technology OM No.A.20020/11/97-IFD dated 31.03.2010.   

  4. The selection of the candidate will be based on interview likely to be conducted during the third week of May 2011 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun or at New Delhi. All original documents should be produced at the time of interview.

  5. Canvassing in any form will render the candidature liable to rejection.

  6. Applications should be submitted on or before 6th May 2011, in prescribed format with attested true copies of testimonials of qualifications, experience, date of birth, category etc. along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations.

  7. Candidates working in other Organizations/Universities should send their applications through proper channel. However, candidates are advised to ensure timely receipt of application at the Institute by sending an advance copy. In such cases the candidates will have to produce `No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.

  8. Applications received after due date/without enclosures/incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection. 

  9.
