As an Engagement Manager at Opower, you will be a critical member of the team that is responsible for the success of our Home Energy Reporting platform-enabled programs. You will lead efforts to build and strengthen client relationships with our utility clients. Engagement Managers provide strategic oversight for the management and utilization of our cutting-edge product suite for utility clients and their customers by working with a cross-functional team of engineers, project managers, regulatory, legal, sales and marketing professionals. Specifically, you will bolster our efforts to evangelize the use of behavioral programs to achieve energy efficiency across our client and regulatory base, build strategic relationships with our existing clients, ensure our efforts to achieve client goals are ultimately implemented, lead the creation of a variety of client-facing communications, and help grow client revenue.

The successful candidate will be a demonstrated quick learner and self-starter – with the ability to initiate and innovate independently and also function well within a team environment. Responsibilities

Client Strategy

As an Engagement Manager you will:

  • Craft appropriate account and program strategies, deepen client relationships and drive incremental business opportunities
  • Develop solid, trusted relationships with client program managers and executives and grow them over time
  • Develop strategic customer engagement plans for clients and lead cross-functional teams to execute those plans
  • Design strategies and programs which achieve client goals and lead to additional business opportunities
  • Identify additional business opportunities and establish relationships with stakeholders or potential stakeholders at the client to further those opportunities
  • Collaborate effectively with the sales team to develop strategies for advancing client relationships and business growth

Client Management

  • Operate effectively in a SaaS business environment to effectively balance client requests with Opower’s business interests
  • Work with the Engagement Management, Consumer Marketing, Product and Analytics teams to maximize household-level engagement with the Opower platform and drive energy efficiency behavior and savings
  • Educate clients on the many components and benefits of the Opower platform to support incremental business opportunities
  • Ensure ongoing customer-service, technical, and other support is delivered effectively and to Opower standards across your portfolio of clients
  • Manage multiple client projects at any given time, effectively prioritizing your own efforts and those of other team members

About You

  • BS or BA in Business, Environmental Policy or related field; MBA or other relevant advanced degree strongly preferred
  • 3-6 years of professional experience in strategic account management, management consulting or other relevant experience
  • You are an excellent communicator
  • You have experience managing multiple, high-priority projects at the same time
  • You have demonstrated success working directly with clients, including developing account strategy and building senior level relationships
  • You understand how to build and leverage strong business relationships
  • You are analytical, yet creative
  • You have good judgment in a business context
  • You have a strong sense of how to motivate others, and an uncanny ability to “get things done” in a matrix environment
  • You have strong project management experience, ideally in a rapidly-paced consulting, services or technology-related environment; previous start-up and/or SaaS business model experience is ideal
