The Specification Engineer is responsible for establishing relationships with consulting engineers (ECs/EPCs) and related end users to promote the use of GE Products & Services in their specifications. In this position, you will act as the liaison that translates concepts back into the commercial operations, Sales or product management teams for implementation. This is an externally focused position but also participates in cross-functional business activities. In this role, you will:
Be involved in thought leadership activities supporting GE’s technical position through Whitepapers, newsletter articles and technical presentations
Influence key engineers within the specification community to approve and specify the use GE Motors products driving sales for new, expansion or upgrade projects
Track and communicate project activities to appropriate Regions and channels for formal ITO implementation
Define, assess and support growth opportunities at new and existing engineering firms, consultants and users within key strategic market/region segments
Drive incremental growth at targeted prospects
Be highly active within the electrical industry and market segments to maximize GE presence and business results
Drive new product commercialization and accelerate market segment penetration
Provide ongoing market feedback to Product Management to guide future product development and service offerings
Provide technical expertise to Sales and Commercial Operations in selecting, implementing, and developing competitive product applications and solutions during R call reviews
Provide training and technical support to EPC customers and Sales Managers
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 7 years engineering or technical sales experience
Minimum of 3 years experience working with rotating electrical machines
Minimum of 10 years engineering and/or technical sales experience, electrical industry knowledge, market experience, Six Sigma certification
Strong motivation/initiative, accountability for results and ability to work with cross-functional teams
Proven leadership experience and strong communication skills, demonstrated engineering excellence and solid analytical skills
Prior experience with customer specifications review, proposal development, and contract development and negotiations is preferred
