Primary responsibility is to conduct analysis and assessment for energy-related proposals submitted under a variety of Federal Agency programs. Works under direction of task or subtask leader. The work involves reviewing the technical and economic/finance aspects of proposed energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The work supports deployment of renewable energy systems, energy efficiency improvements, and large integrated energy projects.
• Conducts due diligence on grant applications for a variety of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, landfill gas, geothermal, microturbine, hydroelectric, biomass and marine technologies under direction of task lead.
• Evaluates project qualifications under Internal Revenue Code Sections 45 and 48.
• Responsible for analysis/assessment activities and proposal reviews, with guidance. 
• Work may involve support to other energy efficiency and renewable energy project transactions, including through NREL’s Federal Energy Management Program work.
Relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
General knowledge and frequent use of project management techniques, theories and concepts. Substantial knowledge of technical field and standards.

Good interpersonal, conflict resolution, teaming and communication skills. Typically requires previous project management experience.
Applies financial and technical experience to review proposals. Demonstrated understanding of elements involved in conducting a financial analysis of a renewable energy project; familiarity with technical aspects of various renewable energy technologies and some experience in working with renewable energy proformas.

Good interpersonal, conflict resolution, teaming and communication skills. Some previous project management experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or financial field and an MBA preferred); 1-2 years experience in renewable energy and/or renewable energy project development. Some experience in energy project transaction due diligence, including assessment of economic/financial/tax elements, is preferred
