Energy Policy VISTA (AmeriCorps) - New OrleansProgram Location: New Orleans Global Green USA's Energy Policy work focuses on education about energy efficiency and renewable energy AND collaboration with likeminded entities to promote economic development through sustainable industries. The result of Global Green’s policy efforts will be more green jobs, a cleaner environment, and energy savings for residents and businesses. VISTA will have the opportunity to work with people in all public, private and nonprofit sectors and to learn what is going on around the country in terms of environmental policies and practices. Eligibility: Good verbal, written, computer and telephone skills; interest in policy and environment. Experience working for a governmental or nonprofit org is a plus but not required. Requirements: High School Graduate minimum, though College Degree preferred; Minimum 18 years of age, Maximum age: None; Must have a vehicle (mileage reimbursements provided). Responsibilities: The Energy Policy VISTA will work with senior staff at Global Green to increase awareness of energy efficiency best practices locally and statewide. VISTA will work with supervisor will work closely with like-minded organizations to promote energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs. Tasks will include research, writing, note taking, drafting and editing reports and policy documents, meeting attendance, and meeting development and coordination. Some travel will also be required. In addition, this VISTA will be involved in other aspects of Global Green, giving tours of Holy Cross house, tabling events, accompanying staff on home energy consults, providing technical assistance to homeowners, and attending trainings on green building technologies and sustainable design.
