ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the guidance of the Director of External Affairs, this position will conduct research on a variety of state and regional energy policies including the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, the siting of electric generating facilities including wind, and other energy issues that may be part of the state’s comprehensive energy planning process currently under way. This internship will produce detailed reports and analysis on these issues that will be used to help guide and inform The Nature Conservancy's policy development. In conducting research, this position will be asked to utilize internal TNC resources, as well as external sources such as public and private reports and analysis, interviews with experts and other relevant sources. The Energy Policy Intern will be asked to help analyze trends and help identify opportunities for Nature Conservancy involvement in the research areas. This position may be asked to report on the research findings and analysis in group settings.
The intern will learn how a leading international non-profit conservation organization operates and makes important policy decisions and investments. The intern will also learn how to conduct policy research and how to provide analysis to decision makers. S/he will have the opportunity to interact with experts in the New Hampshire conservation policy and energy community and develop professional skills and a greater understanding on non-profit management. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience coordinating projects.
Experience in business writing.
Experience using MS Office, Word, Excel and navigating the Internet.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities. Meet deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word, and Excel. May require database management skills with ability to produce reports. Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet.
Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
