Our team of energy professionals specialise in projects of all shapes and sizes – from citywide infrastructure projects to energy efficiency initiatives in our local communities.

To achieve our green ambitions, the city council has already set up a municipally owned Energy Company, supplying gas and electricity to domestic and commercial customers with a social equality ethos and through Bristol City Council’s Energy Service is delivering a varied portfolio of renewable energy and energy efficiency programmes.

A major aim of the Energy Service is to deliver a city wide Heat Network (sometimes referred to as District Energy or District Heating networks) to supply low-carbon and lower cost heat to residents and businesses across Bristol and beyond.

Parts of this network are already operating including a 1MW biomass energy centre within the Redcliffe area of Bristol and other elements are currently under construction within Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone. Plans for large scale networks in other parts of the city are also moving forward at pace.

Your role, as a Project Manager, will be to support the Energy Infrastructure Programme Manager in delivering Heat networks in Bristol with responsibility for managing the installation of existing Heat Network projects and other planned expansion across the City.

You will have excellent and relevant project management expertise in delivering complex decentralised energy projects including Heat Networks on time and to budget coupled with an in-depth technical understanding of Heat networks and building heating systems.

You will have experience in building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders as well as external public and private sector partners.

You will have excellent and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and negotiation skills, be a self-starter able to work on your own. You will also have a successful track record of initiating and delivering complex capital projects, building partnerships, and be customer and service delivery focussed with strong skills in developing financial business cases using spreadsheets, and with the ability to interpret legal agreements.
