Instructions:

Energy Engineers who can effectively sell the merits and ROI of energy efficiency solutions in commercial and industrial environments will find a singular career opportunity with EnerNOC in Walnut Creek, California. As an Energy Engineer, you'll be the focal point on projects as you identify and then deliver energy efficiency solutions. In this high visibility role, you're comfortable translating industrial processes with plant engineers and talking about the ROI from capital investments in industrial equipment such as new industrial refrigeration, pumping equipment or process heat recovery with a Chief Financial Officer. In each instance, you'll put your strong beliefs in energy savings to use as you recruit current customers and new prospects into our utility client's energy efficiency programs. This is a unique and hybrid role, and will be ideal for the seasoned mechanical or chemical engineer who has the technical depth to translate complex processes into energy savings, and the sales skills to establish new client relationships and reinforce existing ones.

EnerNOC unlocks the full value of energy management for our utility and commercial, institutional, and industrial (C&I) customers by reducing real-time demand for electricity, increasing energy efficiency, improving energy supply transparency in competitive markets, and mitigating emissions. We accomplish this by delivering world-class energy management applications including DemandSMART™, comprehensive demand response; EfficiencySMART™, data-driven energy efficiency; SupplySMART™, energy price and risk management; and CarbonSMART™, enterprise carbon management. Our Energy Network Operations Center (EnerNOC) supports these applications across thousands of C&I customer sites throughout the world. Using our C&I customers’ energy usage flexibility, we make capacity, energy, ancillary services, and carbon products available to grid operators and our more than 100 utility customers on demand as a cost-effective alternative to traditional power generation, transmission, and distribution. As our Walnut Creek, California-based Energy Engineer, your first mission will be coming up to speed on our multiple program offerings. This includes mastering our industry-specific lingo and gaining the confidence to converse with utility representatives about program opportunities and prospective end users about participation in such programs. In focusing on end users with high energy consumption, you'll seek out those with a budget for new capital investments and/or those with a corporate sustainability mandate or goal. Your challenge in many cases will simply be getting someone with decision making powers to listen, and your persistence will be vital in getting someone to finally open the door and allow you to schedule a visit. Key markers for success will include your ability to identify/clarify energy savings calculations, to know the appropriate standards/codes, and, most importantly, to make a compelling argument from your calculations during a customer presentation that addresses payback, internal rate of return, net present value and return on investment.  Qualified candidates should be able to stop a cocktail party in its tracks with detailed conversations about the energy efficiency improvements that can come from upgrades to, or modifications of, industrial pumping systems, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, refrigeration, electric motors and compressed air systems. Being a subject matter expert in the above gets you in the door and may lend credibility to your recommendations. However, it's not enough; you must have the business savvy and persuasive skills to get clients to take action. Now is the ideal time to join our organization and to accelerate the trajectory of your career in this incredibly dynamic industry.
