The EE Safety Manager is ultimately responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Energy Efficiency Team’s safety program. The EE Safety Manager is an integral member of the EE Operations Team and the Safety Team.  This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Safety to whom they will convey safety metrics for the EE group, discuss accidents and incidents, develop policies, evaluate tools/procedures and collaborate on innovation solutions to new risks.

Responsibilities
  • Develop implement and manage the EE Safety and HAZCOM Program for all offices
  • Develop policies, procedures and processes to execute the EE scope of work in compliance with relevant laws and industry best practices
  • Develop a strong relationship with EE Regional Operations Managers
  • Conduct field audits to determine applicability and effectiveness of the safety policies
  • Investigate all near-miss, injury and property damage incidents and accidents occurring in the EE program.
  • Define and report all regional metrics to the Senior Director of Safety and EE Team
  • When appointed, serve as the company representative to regulatory agencies and the public in addressing issues of employee safety and environmental concerns regarding the EE program
  • Ensure safety equipment and supplies are available and appropriate for use in the field
  • Provide expertise to the Sr. Director of Safety on all safety and environmental issues concerning city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
  • Develop training content and program for all EE workers, implement robust recordkeeping of training and certifications of workers
  • Test, evaluate and develop products for use in the EE environment
Requirements

Professional Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  • At least 5 years experience in safety, risk management and/or insurance, preferably in HVAC, EE or MEP related field.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, APCD regulations and interpretations
  • Willing to travel frequently (position requires up to 75% travel)
  • Advanced level experience with MS Office products, Drafting & Design Software
  • Minimum Certified Training: OSHA 500 or 501, Fall Protection Competent Person Trainer, Fall Rescue Trained, NFPA 70e, CPR 1st Aid.
  • Clean Driving Record with no DUI and no more than 2 points accumulated
  • General knowledge of HVAC or EE Industry preferred
  • College degree preferred.  CPCU, ARM, ASP or CSP or any safety related degree is an advantage
  • OSHA HAZWOPER, DOT Hazmat Handling Training, and other certification would be a plus.

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):

  • Experience with Asbestos/Lead regulations (multiple states and Federal) and writing company policies (in house and subcontracted out)
  • Experience in environmental compliance audits and risk assessments
  • National Environmental management experience
  • Direct environmental compliance programs related to hazardous waste, water pollution control, and community and customer right-know programs
  • Demonstrated experience running a national level safety program
  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental or Safety & Health Sciences                                          
Additional Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires driving, work at heights, climbing of ladders and stairs, bending/stooping and carrying up to 50lbs of equipment and materials. Some work will occur in extreme heat above 120 degrees and extreme low temperatures, below 30 degrees.
