Willdan Energy Solutions (WES) is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Energy Efficiency Engineer in its newly created Chicago office. The Energy Efficiency Engineer will be a core member of the growing Chicago team as well as participate in national WES projects.  

Position requirements include:

  • Education and Credentials
    • Minimum 3 years of experience serving in an engineering capacity
    • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
    • EIT or PE preferred
    • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Project Management
    • Ability to manage energy efficiency projects from conception to implementation to verification, including sales support

Technical Background

  • Ability to estimate savings and costs to calculate ROI for customers
  • Ability to perform detailed energy savings calculations and spreadsheet analysis
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment in multiple building types and uses
  • Proven ability to identify Energy Efficiency Measures, estimate savings and costs, and calculate ROI
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards
  • Ability to write and review Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans
  • Experience with standard energy modeling tools such as eQUEST or Trane Trace
  • Ability to perform systematic quality control reviews

Preferred Skills

  • A combination of technical expertise and the ability to communicate and sell ideas
  • A high level of interest in improving energy efficiency in buildings
  • Self starting nature with the ability to see tasks through to completion
  • Experience with design, commissioning, retro-commissioning or similar analysis of various building types
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills
