Following the approval of Cabinet, the Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU) was established in November 2014 by way of a formal agreement between the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and UNDP.
The key objectives of the unit is to develop a cohesive and sustainable energy policy and to promote Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Conservation in the country.?The unit will also work towards bridging the legal, institutional, and capacity gaps in order for the Bahrain energy sector to meet the future challenges.
SEU is the entity mandated to lead and promote energy efficiency practices, transfer and diffuse renewable energy technologies and draft related policies and regulatory frameworks in close coordination with stakeholders and partners in the Kingdom of Bahrain. SEU developed the National Energy Efficiency Energy Action Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) with articulated targets that will eventually be the base for developing the National Energy Policy. Both plans along with their initiatives were endorsed by the Cabinet in October 2016.
SEU is seeking qualified energy auditors to provide expert services to the NEEAP implementation committees and to a range of public sector and private sector clients within Bahrain.

Duties and Responsibilities
|
- Provide practical technical advice relating to Energy Auditing for the SEU and NEEAP implementing committees.
- Provide technical advice on opportunities of energy efficiency to SEU and stakeholders in different consuming sectors towards achieving the national energy efficiency targets.
- Conduct energy audits on behalf of a wide variety of clients
- Draft Energy Audit reports for different energy consuming facilities.
- Present Energy Audit Reports to SEU and stakeholders.
- Undertake energy surveys/site inspections and visits to local energy consumers as appropriate.
- Promote energy efficiency awareness via events such as presentations, workshops, etc.?
- Perform any other duties relevant to energy efficiency improvement upon request of the SEU.

- Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Required Skills and Experience
|
Qualification
- A degree in engineering
- An internationally recognized certificate of Energy Auditing is an asset
Experience
- At least 5 years of related work experience.
- Demonstrated hand-on experience of conducting energy audit projects.
- Experience on conducting energy audits on behalf of a wide variety of clients, including at least two of the following:
- SMEs
- Heavy Industry including power plants, aluminium plants and the petrochemical industry
- Religious buildings
- Malls
- Hotels
- Office buildings
- Schools and universities
- Hospitals
- Experience of a wide variety of energy efficiency measures as it relates to various sectors of the economy and experience conducting energy efficiency projects.
- A solid understanding of energy efficiency technologies, practices, and tools.
- Ability to calculate energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reduction for energy efficiency projects. The candidate will have a strong understanding of various business models, policy options and financing schemes for energy efficiency solutions.
- Ability to perform cost/benefit analysis to evaluate energy efficiency opportunities
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to explain technical information to people without technical knowledge
Language requirement
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic language is an asset
