Department Marketing Statement

Climate change is currently one of the most pressing environmental issues facing the international community, the business world, and individual citizens. Responding to the challenge requires efforts on many fronts. Based on our independent status, technology competence, risk management expertise, and industry knowledge, DNV provides climate change services within three main areas: Clean energy, emission reduction, and adaptation.
Combating climate change involves a variety of risks; from societal, to commercial, and technical issues. Understanding and managing risk is a prerequisite for making the right decisions. As a natural extension of the DNV purpose, “To Safeguard Life, Property and the Environment”, we work in a variety of fields to help governments and organisations to address the climate change challenge.
Established under the Kyoto Protocol, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) scheme is an incentive for companies in industrialised countries to invest in eligible emissions reduction projects in developing countries. The Kyoto Protocol requires that all CDM projects are subjected to validation and verification/certification by a third party verifier. Just like CDM, other voluntary programs have been developed to abate emissions.
The climate change services in DNV Mexico primarily focus on validation and verification/certification services to CDM and other voluntary emission reduction programs.
The Climate Change Services Office in Mexico is part of DNV Climate Change, and is responsible for Climate Change Services in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Venezuela and Colombia.
Our key clients include project developers and participants of major industries such as: agriculture, waste/wastewater treatment, energy, cement, mining, transport and many other process industries.
