Description

Our Energy and Sustainability Team sitting within Finance & Business Services hold overall responsibility for Corporate Carbon KPI, which has a target to reduce emission by 67% from a 2018 baseline, and has a key role in delivering initiatives to support the Corporate Net Zero target of 2030. 

We have an exciting role for an Energy and Utilities Assistant to be a part of the team! You can be flexibly based in one of our UK office’s and we have a flexible hybrid working approach, meaning the role will be a combination of office/home working.

You will be required to support the management of all utilities for our estate and the network, ensuring bills are validated and processed on our systems. You will manage the utilities across the estate and the network, setting up sites, supply points, accounts, meter readings/automated reading data and tariffs.

You will work with area facilities management and the central energy procurement team to migrate all National Highways sites to the central energy procurement framework to achieve procurement VFM (value for money) and enable the monitoring and targeting of energy and water use across our estate.

What you’ll be leading on

  • Assist in the delivery of a strategy to address energy use, resource conservation, education, and building design.
  • Work across different teams within National highways to collate the data necessary to ensure that utility supplies are proactively managed, ensuring that they align with our wider utility procurement strategy. 
  • Ensure that all utility bills are validated, processed and paid within payment terms, supporting the Payments Team to achieve their PPI targets.  
  • Lead on development of invoice tracking to ensure supplies across all utilities are maintained, working with area and local FM teams to track when orders will be required. 
  • Assist with the development of utility reporting for our estate & network and support the wider Energy & Sustainability Team with to achieve our overall KPI and Net Zero objectives. 
  • Produce reports, presentations and other documents, collating and analysing relevant information and statistics from identified sources, to support others in the delivery of their business objectives. 

To be successful you’ll need

  • Experience of working with large volumes of data and able to create reports. 
  • Knowledge of energy data and systems. 
  • Highly computer literate in PC based systems including Microsoft Office Suite and specifically spreadsheets. 
  • Experience of managing data within the energy sector. 
  • Strong analytical mindset with strong numeracy and analytical skills.
