JOB DESCIPTION
Energy and Environment Coordinator Julie’s Bicycle is looking for a full-time project Coordinator to join the Energy and Environment team. The Coordinator will work closely with the Energy and Environment Manager to support arts and cultural organisations to measure their environmental impacts, develop environmental policies and achieve Industry Green certification. Specifically, the role will support our partnership with Arts Council England (ACE), providing the IG Tools (www.juliesbicycle.com/ig-tools) for ~700 National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) to quantify their carbon and support environmental policy development. The post-holder will also work more broadly on Industry Green certification, content development and support programmes for our wide variety of clients.
This will be an exciting position for someone keen to explore how both the subsidised and commercial creative industries are engaging with sustainability and moving to a low carbon economy. The Energy and Environment Coordinator will work closely with the Energy and Environment Team overseen by the Operations Director.
ESSENTIAL • Experience in and the ability to calculate and assess greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using and adapting GHG accounting methodologies to apply to buildings, events, products and organisations. • Ability to analyse technical data from carbon calculators, spreadsheets, surveys and interviews. • Broad understanding of environmental sustainability including: energy and water efficiency; waste and travel management issues and impacts; renewable energy sources, issues, and industry trends. • Broad understanding of behavioural change and staff engagement issues in relation to environmental sustainability • Ability to write accessible reports (refer to the Julie’s Bicycle website for previous publications). • Ability to work well in a small team. • Good written and interpersonal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • A degree in environmental science/studies/management/sustainability and/or other relevant academic discipline area. • Proven GHG emissions assessment experience. • Experience with excel spreadsheets or other similar software. • Have worked with carbon calculators (preferred). • Written reports for non-academic audience (preferred). • Knowledge of how environmental sustainability issues impact the arts and creative industries desirable. • Interest in and appreciation of the arts and creative industries desirable.
