Background:

The project is an exciting opportunity to tackle the poor energy efficiency and energy management of student accommodation in the private sector, reducing energy consumption and in turn student bills. The project is funded via the Students Green Fund, a national programme to support student-led environmental initiatives. The project will build upon the work that has already commenced through a successful pilot aimed at encouraging students and their landlords to take up the Green Deal, by training students to be energy assessors. The remit of this project will be wider, examining behaviour change as a core tactic to impact energy consumption but retaining the most positive aspects of the original scope, critically, the training of student advocates to engage with peers to enable cascade training. Competition on a bespoke student facing software platform, regular incentives and easy to understand reports on energy saving measures (which are individual to the property) will be produced.

Objective:

To successfully manage the Energize Worcester programme in line with agreed expectations and Student Green Fund funding stipulations.
