Foundation Package Manager

 

Airtricity was acquired by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) in February 2008. The acquisition gave SSE the market entry it was seeking to supply energy to customers in Ireland. SSE intends to utilise Airtricity as a platform to develop a truly pan-European renewables business and to become a major market force in the energy supply sector in Ireland. Following its sale, Airtricity now has two definitive businesses – energy supply and renewable energy development.

 

Airtricity is No.1 for renewable energy. Currently it supplies renewable energy to over 40,000 customers in Ireland with ambitious growth targets over the next 5 years to grow to 500,000 customers.

As a result of continued and anticipated growth, Airtricity is seeking to recruit a Foundation Package Manager. You will lead and manage all project phases from preparation of a design basis, contracting and supervision of the execution of the design phase of the wind turbine and substation platform foundations, contracting civil engineering services and accompanying the tendering procedure for the foundations while managing the certification of foundations and the project certification.

 

You will be the main point contact during project execution phase ad will lead the on-site team during construction. This position will be part of the expansion of the German offshore team and primarily related directly to the 300MW Butendiek Offshore Wind Farm project which is expected to be online by 2012.

 

The position will be reporting to the Technical Director of the Butendiek Offshore wind in direct relationship with the Butendiek Project Director. The successful candidate will be based in Northern Germany in the Airtricity offices in Hamburg or Husum. Initially working on the Butendiek project, the successful candidate will carry his knowledge and experience into future offshore projects of Airtricity in Germany, The Netherlands and United Kingdom.

 

Tasks:

 

     

  • Prepare and complete the design basis in discussion with certification bodies and consenting authorities.
  • Prepare and execute tendering for the selection of consultants, civil engineers, contractors and certification bodies, negotiate contracts.
  • Participate in transferring and defining best practice, department benchmarks and opportunities for process/tool improvement.
  • Prepare tenders for relevant subcontracting work and lead/participate in contract negotiations.
  • Work closely with the contracts and commercial teams.
  • Supervise execution of works, lead the on/site construction team.
  • Review and control project budgets and schedules for subcontract packages and report to Project Director.

     

 

Responsibilities:

 

     

  • Project management for design, construction and certification
  • Prepare and accompany the contracting process from supplier sourcing, bid preparation and analysis, through negotiation to contract award
  • Post contract review and controlling of invoicing against project status
  • Interface Management and overlaps to other subcontracts and sub contractors
  • Risk Management according to internal procedures

     

     

    Personnel Specification:

     

    The successful candidate will preferably have:

     

       

    • An engineering degree
    • Substantial experience in construction management, preferably within the wind energy or offshore industry
    • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, at negotiating level
    • Profound negotiating and social interaction abilities
    • Organizational & planning skills
    • A positive attitude, team spirit and sympathy for the idea of community owned renewable energy
