Pure Technologies, a leader in the field of water and wastewater pipeline inspection and assessment, is looking to hire an Electronics Engineering Technologist with strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills to carry out the repair, maintenance and upgrade of advanced mobile pipe inspection systems. The position requires a strong understanding of electronics control systems and a natural ability to diagnose problems intelligently and implement repairs effectively. The engineer/technologist will also support the robotics design team in developing, building and testing new robotics systems. The position is primarily hands-on with a mild documentation component.

Education

  • Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma or higher

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years related experience
  • Firm grasp of digital and analog circuits
  • Knowledge of serial communication standards
  • Familiar with microcontrollers/microprocessors
  • Basic understanding of power electronics: power management, motor control
  • PC troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrades
  • Familiar with standard ESD and electronics handling
  • General electrical safety and grounding fundamentals
  • Strong electromechanical assembly skills
  • Trained in “High Reliability Soldering” for PCB level assembly and rework of through hole and surface mount electronics components
  • Experienced in wiring electrical components from schematics utilizing high reliability wiring techniques with a wide variety of crimp connectors, terminals and wire management accessories
  • Basic metal working skills: drilling and taping holes, cutting and forming metal brackets, mounting components
  • Experience using Altium, Orcad or similar electronics CAD package
  • Proficient in using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies
  • Use of power tools : drill press, band saw, etc.
  • Use of standard shop hand tools

  • Direct experience with complete control systems involving motion control, data acquisition, embedded microcontrollers, remote sensors, data communications and user interfaces
  • ROVs and pipe inspection equipment
  • CCTV video systems
  • Power transmission over copper
  • Battery fundamentals
  • Familiar with industrial data communications standards
  • Ethernet-based control system networks
  • Fiber optics, Fiber optic test equipment, splicing, termination
  • Mechanical assembly and testing of underwater electronics enclosures and other depth rated assemblies.
  • Non-Destructive Examination technologies
  • Programming microcontrollers and/or PC based applications
