Description

My client is amongst  the leading renewable energy providers globally, and have a very strong business plan and balance sheet. They a specialize in the manufacturing of crystalline silicon modules and are also a leading residential, commercial and utility-scale solar PV developer with a strong market presence in Europe, USA and the Asia-Pacific regions. They are looking to recruit a senior electrical engineer. The electrical engineer will design and propose new aspects of PV balance of system (BOS) components so that the electrical performance and cost of conversion will be optimized. The electrical engineer will manage partners’ involvement in the new BOS process. The electrical engineer will also ensure that all aspects of the connectivity of the product, upstream and downstream, will remain robust meeting or exceeding current warranty requirements. All designs will meet or exceed current safety and performance standards.

 

Core Criteria:
The position will be responsible for implementing innovative electrical and electronic devices including micro-converters onto modules, wiring systems, and related communication systems with PV system design. The electrical engineer will interface with preferred partners and suppliers and to prove the cost effectiveness and long-term reliability of the new components in the PV environment. The purpose of the position is to maximize the output of the module/system combination by reducing electrical losses through innovation and successfully bring and integrate these innovations into the products and systems. The gains will be determined successful through reduced LCOE and maximizing the product lifetime value for the customer. Identifying a clear path to the market and incorporating the improvements into the Product Road Map is also a very important aspect of the position.

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         PV circuit theory and electrical design
  • ·         Cable optimization for cost reduction and design efficiency
  • ·         Circuit protection methods including by-pass diode optimization and other arc protection devices (module and system)
  • ·         PV inverters and related storage packages specifications and prototype testing
  • ·         Data monitoring and web-based communications expertise
  • ·         All module integrated electronics for advanced power control and conditioning
  • ·         For all designs, developing a clear pathway to manufacturing at JV’s and service providers will be essential
  • ·         Ensure the smooth integration of the new designs into the systems and projects being offered and implemented

Education:-

  • ·         Minimum B.S degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics (Computer Engineering and Networking knowledge desirable)

Core Requirements:-

  • ·         Minimum of 10 years related experience in the PV or related industry
  • ·         Mechanical engineering knowledge will be a plus
  • ·         Experience with large PV projects preferred
  • ·         Experience with working with contractors and trades
  • ·         Experience with integration of components into systems
  • ·         Must be experienced in the use of MS office suite of programs for communication and basic analysis purposes
  • ·         Ability to use drafting and design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks

General Requirements:-

  • ·         Experience with DOE (design of experiments) and statistical analysis software (e.g. Jump or similar) would be beneficial for advanced data computation
  • ·         Database competency and share site design would be useful
  • ·         Excellent project management skills and assertive abilities when communicating internally and externally
  • ·         Excellent communications and vendor management skills are required for this position
  • ·         Strong leadership skills in the area of energizing and engaging people and teams and demonstrated assertiveness to deliver results.

Key Skills:-

Solar PV, electrical engineering degree, PV systems installation experience, large-scale project experience and AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience.
