Functional Area:
"The Electrical systems department is Vestas’ centre of know-how within the area of electrical design of the wind turbines. . The department consists of 3 sub-departments handling design within Power and Compliance, Control and Protection, Power Conversion and Auxiliary Systems. We are responsible of designing the electrical system in new turbines and maintaining the old turbines
Department: Control System Layout
Essential Functions:
  • The Electrical Design Engineer role covers:
  • Instrumentation of nacelle, hub and tower
  • Specification and design of WTG controller layout and configuration of Controller I/O.
  • Safety system (Requirement, design and documentation)
  • PLC hardware
  • EMC/Lighting (WTG Layout design)
  • Component qualification and sourcing of external products.
  • Test and verification (HALT, Load test, EMC, lightning)
  • Product Data Management (Bill Of Material & Engineering Change Management)
  • Documentation
  • Co-operate with Project members, project managers, platform managers and relevant Production Business Units at Vestas, but also external partnerships will be a part of your day-to-day relations.
  • The task deliverables are documented according to the Vestas Way to Market process.
Educational Requirements:
  • B.Sc.E.E. or M.Sc.E.E or Experienced technician (8 – 10 years)
Prefer:
  • Electrical Engineer Experienced within instrumentation machine control and automation.
Minimum Requirements
  • +5 years experience in Electrical design
  • Electrical Product design skills(from concept development to detail design)
  • Experience within Control Systems, Instrumentation and Safety Systems,
  • Good documentation skills
  • Experienced in control- and instrumentation design (from concept to detail design).
  • Experience in sensor application.
  • Experience in Safety System design.
  • Experienced in PLC hardware design, cable routing, cables and electrical components.
  • Knowledge of Caddy++ for electrical schematics.
  • Good understanding and experience in design for manufacturing.
  • Ability to work well in team environment as well as independently
  • Domestic and international travel
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required
Desired:
  • Six Sigma–DfSS
  • Design FMEA
  • PLC hardware
  • EMC- and Lightening experience.
  • UL and CSA experience
  • Experience in Engineering Change Management
  • Experience in Infor XA
  • Experience in Sensor System Design and Application (Wind, Speed, Direction, Acceleration…)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
